Thanksgiving Trip…and Cranberry Sauce

Well tomorrow starts our long trip to Michigan to celebrate Thanksgiving with Mike’s family. We are very excited to see his family and some of our friends that we have been missing dearly!

Tip for driving long distance with little kids…drive in the middle of the night! We leave at bedtime and get to Michigan at breakfast. Less stopping for diaper changes and potty breaks, so the trip goes a heck of a lot faster. I can’t take credit for this idea, but I think its a good one! I’ll let you all know how it goes after the trip.

So I will be blogging from Michigan next week!! Maybe a post about in-laws!! LOL

I thought I would leave you with a Cranberry Sauce Recipe for your Thanksgiving meal!! Enjoy!

Primal Cranberry Sauce

4 cups fresh cranberries
1 cup water
1 cup 100% apple juice
Juice from 1 orange
2 tbsp pure maple syrup (make it 4 tablespoons if you like a sweeter sauce)
zest of the orange
½ tsp nutmeg
½ tbsp ground cinnamon

In a large sauce pan add the cranberries, water, apple juice, orange juice and bring to a boil.  Add the nutmeg, orange zest, cinnamon, and maple syrup and simmer, stirring often until the cranberries are broken down and the sauce becomes thick, about 10-15 minutes.

ENJOY!!! (I’ll post a picture of it later this coming week!)

What is your favorite Thanksgiving food?
