The Real Food Mama’s Pantry List & Sample Day Menu

Here is a long list of things I like to keep around in my pantry and fridge! I have also included a sample day of what each person in my house eats! I created this list for a friend who was interest in going low carb and eating Real Foods! I hope it helps you!!

List of Real Foods to keep around your house and buy each week:

Eggs

Lean Meats like; chicken, beef, turkey, fish, pork, shrimp, Jerky, bacon & sausage

Full fat Cheese, 4% Cottage Cheese, full fat Cream Cheese (good on celery)

Nuts; almonds, cashews, pecans, and walnuts (stay away from peanuts)

VEGGIES! All kinds and colors! Cucumber, green peppers, zucchini, squash, carrots, avocado, etc…

Fruits: apples, grapefruit, strawberries, blueberries (frozen are good too) (bananas and oranges have a lot of carbs so we stay away from eating those a lot)

Olives and Olive Oil

Butter (I always put a little on my cooked veggies, its helps our body absorb the nutrients from the veggie)

Canned diced tomatoes (easy to make a quick sauce to put over chicken, just heat tomatoes with some yummy spices and maybe a little heavy cream and put over a broiled chicken breast)

Canned tuna

A good Rotisserie Chicken ( I take all the meat off put in a bowl with mayo, mustard, diced celery, diced carrots, halved grapes and salt and pepper, makes a mean Chicken Salad!)

Coffee!

Foods to stay away from for the most part!

Bread, pasta, rice, corn and all corn products, chips, potatoes, processed foods; like American cheese, crackers, granola bars (scary amount of carbs and weird chemicals in those) pancakes, waffles, muffins etc…

Things that are higher carb, but eaten in moderation are good too (at least in my book…lol)

Yogurt (buy the regular kind and beware of High Fructose Corn Syrup!!) I like to buy organic here..like StoneyFields

Milk 2% or 1% (again I like the organic better, but it is expensive)

Fruits

Dehydrated Fruits (no sugar added)

60% or higher dark chocolate

Coffee Creamer (although these have scary ingredients too, it’s a vice for me, heavy cream and a couple of dark chocolate chips in your coffee is probably better!)

List of Good Real Foods for the Kids:

Eggs

Lean Meats like; chicken, beef, turkey, pork, fish, shrimp, Jerky, bacon & sausage (Michael loves bacon or sausage with his egg in the morning)

Full fat Cheese, 4% Cottage Cheese, full fat Cream Cheese (good on celery)

VEGGIES & FRUIT: lots of kinds and colors!

All Natural Applesauce-No Sugar Added

Simply Yoplait Go-Gurts (brand made without high fructose corn syrup) Stoneyfields also makes great yogurt for kids and babies

Sliced Almonds, Cashews

Full Fat Cheese

Almond Butter or All Natural Peanut Butter

Hormel All Natural Deli Meat (I make roll ups with cheese and deli meat)

100% juice (watered down)

2% or 1% Milk

Archer Farms Chicken Sausage (like hot dogs but way better!) (found at Target)
