We went to the Apple Orchard today!! It was the perfect Fall day for it and our little family had a blast exploring the corn maze, taking a hayride and picking our own apples!!
Got home and the first thing I wanted to make was Applesauce!! I couldn’t resist sharing my recipe with you all! It’s super easy, kid friendly and the perfect way to use up our Peck of Apples!!
Here it is:
Homemade Applesauce
Prep Time: 30min
Cook Time (Crock Pot): 3-4 hours on High, 6-8 hours on Low
Ingredients:
- 1/2 Peck of Apples, peeled and diced (or about 8-10 medium apples)

- 1-2 tsp Cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
- 1/2 Lemon
- 1/4 Water
Peel, core and dice the apples. Squeeze the half of lemon over the apples and toss the lemon juice with the apples, this helps to prevent browning and give the applesauce a great fresh bright taste. Sprinkle cinnamon and Nutmeg over the apples, toss to coat. Pour in the 1/4 cup of water. Place in slow-cooker for 3-4 hours on High or 6-8 hours on low. When the apples start to break down, I use a potato masher to smash the apples into applesauce. You can make it as chunky or smooth as you would like. I stick blender would work well here too if you want it super smooth. We like it a bit more chunky.
Enjoy this perfect Fall treat!!
