About a week ago we took our little family of five to Perkins for dinner. It’s one place we feel we can go and get as close to Primal food as possible. Everyone has eggs and bacon! I decided that night to get one of their hamburgers (bun-less) and it was delicious! It was called the Breakfast Burger!! After inhaling that dinner I thought that it would be pretty darn easier to create this at home and save the money!!
This recipe has lots of things going on at once! So the easiest thing to do is get all your ingredients prepped and ready before you start cooking!
This meal was a HUGE hit in our house!! Hope you enjoy!!
Note: If you are dairy free, leave out the sour cream and cheese and add sautéed spinach and mushrooms!
Breakfast Hamburgers
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cooke Time: 20-30 minutes
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
- 1lb Grass Fed Beef (make 4 – 4oz patties)
- 4 Free Range Eggs (cooked over easy)
- 8 slices Bacon (cooked in oven)
- 2c Shredded Sweet Potato or White Potato (1/2c fried for each burger, can just do 1/4c)
- 4oz Sharp Cheddar (1 oz for each burger)
- 4 tbsp Full Fat Sour Cream (1tbsp for each burger)
- Salt & Pepper
- Butter for Cooking
Before you do anything…pre-heat your oven or toaster over to 400-425 and get your bacon slices on a pan and cooking. Let them cook from 10-20 minutes depending on how crispy you want them. I like them extra crispy so I go longer, keep an eye on them!! Take them out and set aside when done to you liking. In the meantime prep all of the ingredients. Get your beef patties cooking next, I used our Forman indoor grill, you can use your broiler, a cast iron pan, the grill or toast over. Cook the beef patties to desired done-ness. I did about 5 minutes per side. While burgers are cooking saute the shredded potatoes in a pan with butter or bacon grease. Cook into little patties and until they are browned on each side. Cook the eggs last, by this point your bacon should be out of the oven, burgers are on a plate and potatoes are ready. Fry up your eggs in some butter, over easy!
Now its time to plate! I pilled everything up too quickly and afterwards decided on the right stacking to make the cheese melt! Here is the order:
First plate the hamburger patty, then the 1oz of sharp cheddar, than the shredded potato, followed by the bacon, sour cream and the egg on top!
Ohhh….this is a good one!! Enjoy!

This looks like brunch this Sunday!! Question..what “order” would you follow if you did the spinach and mushrooms (dairy free) version?…Can’t wait to savor this savory breakfast!..Thanks for sharing!
I would put the spinach and mushrooms (saute them first) over the potatoes and under the bacon, top with egg! Enjoy!!!!
Yum! Sign me up. I’m making this over the weekend. Anything with cheese, bacon and eggs together is at the top of my list!
OMG….they are sooooo good!! Enjoy!!
