About

Hi My name is Joanne aka The Real Food Mama! I was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, went to college in Kalamazoo, MI at Western Michigan University. I taught 3/4 grade for two years and then taught and directed at a Christian Preschool/Day care for two years before I had my first baby.

In January of 2006 I married my amazing husband, Mike!! We got married, got a dog and bought a house all in the space of about 3 months! Then we figured hey why not have a baby….8 months after we got married….we were pregnant. That started our journey into parenthood and its been a blast!

Two and half years ago my husband, Mike, decided to throw his resume up on Monster because he wasn’t feeling so good about the job he was in! Four months later we had our house on the market and were on your way to Minnesota!! We have been here in the Twin Cities area ever since!

I am a Stay at Home mom and have been ever since my first son was born. I do a lot of cooking, some cleaning…lol, and I volunteer at my church! I have two little boys, Michael 4 years old, Jacob 2 years old and our new little girl, Hannah 4 months old!!!

My passion is cooking good real food for my family and helping others find the Primal Real Food life that works for them!! All of my recipes are Gluten & Grain Free! I also never use white sugar or artificial sweeteners, sweeteners usually come from fruits and honey! I hope you enjoy the recipes and info on my blog! Tell your friends too!

  1. So glad to have found you on here! I am starting to transition my 6 year old daughter to eating primal..not such an easy task! She is a sandwich junkie but at least she loves fruit and eats it pretty much at every meal….My husband and I have lost a lot of weight together on this as well. I loved reading Mikes story! That’s how I found you. Thanks for sharing all your recipes. Fingers crossed this works for my little one…ugh..;)

    • It will!! Just keep doing what you are doing?? It helps to add in Primal “baked goods” here and there with kids. Like my Coconut Flour Biscuits. I used those to make a nut butter & apple butter sandwich. I also try very hard to make as many of my recipes kid friendly!! Check out Fooled You Spaghetti Bake!! Huge hit with my kids!! Good Luck! And welcome to my site!
